James "Jim" P. Nevins, 77, of the Crestwood Village V section of Whiting passed away Friday 10/15 at home. Born in Jersey City, he was raised in Nutley and lived in Belleville and Old Bridge before moving to Crestwood Village V 13 years ago. He was the owner/operator of Nevins Movers of Old Bridge. After retirement he worked for Crestwood Family Restaurant and Impac Management until his passing. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, trips to Atlantic City and classic automobiles. His greatest love and enjoyment was the time he spent with his family. He was predeceased by his parents James and Julia Nevins, a brother Bobby Nevins and a sister Eleanor Rose.
Surviving are: his loving wife of 22 years, Dorothea Nevins; four sons Steven and Cathy Goozdich of Eire, PA, James Nevins of Whiting, William and Maureen Nevins of Allentown, NJ and Steven Nevins of Brick; three daughters Carolyn and Michael DiSalvo of Toms River, Sharon and David Stemmer of Millstone Twp. and Michelle and Roberto Mendez of Freehold; two brothers, George and Jack Nevins; four sisters Margaret Slawinski, Mary Nevins, Kathy Riley and Ann Marie Scheidel. Also surviving are three stepsons Alex and Melissa Moleski, Michael and Marlo Moleski, David and Donna Mosleski; nineteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; his former wife Carolyn Nevins and his father-in-law Joseph Petolino.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday October 18th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Tuesday 9-10:30AM at "The Family Owned" Carmona Bolen Home For Funerals 66 lacey rd. Whiting, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday 11AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Whiting.
