I just want to say that Madden Funeral Home has been such a pleasant experience for my family and I. The coroner asked us every detail possible in regards to our wants and needs for our beloved father. The reception was too kind, and actually cared about our feelings. Losing a loved one is devastating and the process can be scary at time. However, I feel the process could not have gone more smoothly. I'm tearing up as I right this, but people such as those working for Madden Funeral home should be acknowledged. Thank you for treating us as human beings; as family. May your days be blessed.

I really wish you had an online guestbook to sign, for people who can not make it to visitations or funerals... Then print it out and give to the family...

I don't know who your coroner is but he is the most rude person I have ever met. He was called out to only examine and pronounce my mother as deceased. He was informed when he got here that we already had a policy with another funeral home and he ignored what I was saying. Only after I told him 3 or 4 times and showed him paperwork that we had a policy with Texarkana Funeral Home did he decide to call Texarkana Funeral Home and notify them that I wanted "the body" out of the house, and Texarkana Funeral Home could pick the body up there (@ Madden), I never once indicated or said that. My husband was trying to help me figure out was going on since we had told him we already had a pre-paid policy and things in the works. We did not want to be billed twice, which we were told we wouldn't be, by Texarkana Funeral Home, and Madden because they would bill Texarkana Funeral Home for the services that Texarkana Funeral Home was to provide.
Then he proceeded to plan the policy services in my kitchen and set up a time for me to go sign the papers with Madden. He told me that I would not be billed twice and Madden would bill Texarkana Funeral Home for the cremation and all services that were to be provided. I just could not believe that he decided to try and steal my mothers body and money out of Texarkana Funeral Home's pocket, and trying to steal the policy.
In all her 90 years my mother demanded respect and I feel that he showed no respect towards my mother or myself, especially in my home. My mother was living with me and was in my care for the past 6 yrs and was holding her hand while she passed. Why would I all of a sudden want her out of my house now? He showed no common courtesy and was just totally cold and calculating. He kept referring to my deceased mother as "a body". That was really unprofessional, and I was highly offended.
Your "Coroner" proceeded to tell me that Madden was cheaper than Texarkana. Texarkana Funeral Home has been so polite and understanding with us. And courteous with helping us through the transission of grief. Also we have contacted a lawyer and the Funeral Home Board of Directors in Little Rock, AR. to file a complaint against Madden Funeral Home and its "Coroner" (to use the term loosely)!

I read the obituary of Opal Ritter whose funer al was handled by your firm , died March 7 in Ashdown. It does not mention her mother. Her father was John Curtis Holloway but I do not know the maiden name of her mother but I believe her given name was Grace. Can you help me?

I have a meeting tomorrow morning to make arrangements for my mother's funeral, Edna Louise Knickerbocker. I have written the obituary. Do you have an email address so that I can send it to you.
