Dear Gerry, Steve and Families,
Lanny and I have been out-of-state for two weeks. We came home to learn of Bill's death. We are so sorry that we were unable to attend the services. I can't help but think he is happier being in heaven with Frances, but I chuckle to think of her reminding him not to talk so loud. He couldn't help it because of his hearing loss but she always reminded him!!
Bill and Frances were wonderful Christian people. They had a postive impact on this community. We were so blessed to know them and be influenced by them. They were fine role models for us when we were a young couple just moving here, and for all who knew them.
Years ago when my second grade class wrote to you, Steve, I remember how pleased Frances was that Celeste and I were doing that. You were in a dangerous place doing a dangerous mission. Not long ago our youngest son went to Afghanistan. He was serving as a Marine lawyer, not nearly as dangerous an assignment as yours, but any assignment there can be dangerous. I could understand then just how your parents felt, the anxiety and fear of having a son serve in a war zone. Oddly enough, I ran across a picture of you several months ago that you sent to my class. I'd planned to take it to her but she died before I could get there. So many sweet memories..........
Our sincere sympathy to your family,
Lanny and Lynn Bishop
