I have just learned that the remains of CPL. James William Davis was sent to your funeral home in or around March or April 1949. James Davis was my father, he was killed during the invasion of Normandy, France in 1946. He was interred in a Military cemetery in France until his remains were disinterred and returned to this country in 1948 or 1949. I was never was aware of where he had been buried due to the fact that my mother didn't keep in contact with his relatives nor they with her or me. His remains were sent to you at the request of his mother, Bessie Davis Bullard and he was interred in the Baxley Cemetery. I can't seem to lacate a Baxley Cemetery in Baxley, Ga. Has the name been changed?
Do you have records dating back to 1949? If so Iwould greatly appreciate any information you could give me regarding the receipt of my fathers remains, a subsiquent funeral and burial. Could you tell me if he is buried in a family plot or not? Also, where in the cemetery his grave is located as I plan to come down from Clarkesville, Ga to visit his gravesite.
Gratefully Yours,
Rosa Davis Williamson
