Comment on Manes Funeral Home - Newport, TN written by: Rev T. 12/19/2011 5:20PM Non caring, disrespectful, even in the midst of terrible, heart broken mourners! I have been a pastor for 10 years. When my grandma died I went home for the funeral. It was horrible. The funeral home was pleasant and clean, but the staff was not up to the standards of the MANY places I've done funerals before. In fact, this very mean lady who told me I was not Christian who works there, even said, "Well we just have different values." That was obvious. They cared more about money than people. When people arrived, no one from the staff was there to greet anyone or point ways to our room or bath rooms! There was no signage even at all! The preacher, who worked for the home and who was at least 90, did not even bother to look up my grandma's name and even referred to her by the WRONG name throughout the whole service. SO SAD. I stepped out to call my wife (IN PRIVATE) for support and comfort and the owner was eves dropping on my call. When I expressed my disappointment with this place and how idiotic they were he came charging at me in my grief, along with the mentioned lady above, and proceeded to tell me that the preacher was his "daddy" and that if I did not like it I could leave. THIS IS NOT typical behavior. WHEN people are MOURNING they will get upset and even transfer emotions. Obviously this guy missed those classes at funeral director school, if he was even trained! The next day at the committal more of the same! The preacher sang a song, and that was it as they buried my grandma with no name. How sad! THIS PLACE ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY! There are better funeral homes that WILL care for you right down the road! May God bless you all and I pray you never have this type of experience. Peace!
